Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a full-time, contract-based position. This opportunity, near Lancaster, PA, is available immediately and extends through the remainder of the current school year. In this itinerant role, you'll provide specialized instruction and services to a diverse K-12 caseload across multiple school sites.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience designing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students is highly valued
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment for low-vision and blind students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing settings throughout the school week
- Valid teaching certification/licensure as required by the state
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students K-12 with visual impairments
- Travel between school sites to meet the needs of an itinerant caseload
- Complete assessments, develop IEP goals, and track progress for each student
- Educate and support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications for visually impaired students
- Communicate regularly with families to support student progress and advocate for appropriate services
- Stay current on best practices, technology, and resources in the field of visual impairment education
