Step into a meaningful role where you’ll make a difference in the lives of students by providing expert instruction and support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time, contract opportunity is available for an immediate start and will continue through the remainder of the school year. You’ll work in a collaborative, itinerant setting, traveling between schools in the area to deliver vital services to students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credential, with knowledge of best practices in supporting students who are blind or visually impaired
- Experience working with K-12 students in an itinerant or resource-setting preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate across multiple sites and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with braille instruction, assistive technology, adaptive materials, and accessible curriculum development
- Ability to assess student needs, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor progress
- Commitment to fostering independence, accessibility, and confidence in each student’s learning journey
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to individual visual needs across a K-12 caseload
- Adapt classroom materials and collaborate with general education teachers on accommodations and modifications
- Implement IEP goals and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
- Instruct in the use of adaptive technology and orientation/mobility skills where appropriate
- Serve as a resource for faculty, families, and support staff to ensure an inclusive educational experience
Schedule: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
