Teacher of Visually Impaired in Winter Garden, FL
A rewarding opportunity awaits for an experienced educator passionate about supporting students with visual impairments. This contract position focuses on providing both direct and consultative services to K-12 students across multiple campuses, near Winter Garden, FL. As an itinerant teacher, you will serve a caseload of 15-20 students throughout up to 13 schools, visiting two or three locations per day. A district office serves as your homebase, and a flexible weekly schedule can be tailored in collaboration with district leadership. Travel professionals are especially encouraged to apply, as the area and discipline are in high demand.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Florida TVI License required
- OMS (Orientation & Mobility Specialist) Certification required
- Experience working in school-based environments preferred, but not mandatory
- Previous work with K-12 students who are visually impaired is desirable
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage a multi-site caseload effectively
- Willingness and ability to work on-site and travel between school locations
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instructional and consultative support to visually impaired students in grades K-12
- Collaborate with educational staff and families to support student learning and accessibility needs
- Create and adapt instructional materials and strategies for a visually diverse student population
- Maintain accurate and timely student progress records and service documentation
- Participate in required district onboarding and maintain all relevant credentials according to district policy
The position begins August 3, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027, with full-time hours (35 per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm). On July 21, the district will be actively interviewing and prescreen interviews may occur, so timely applications are encouraged.
