Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments in an itinerant role serving multiple schools. This full-time contract opportunity entails both direct and consultative services for K-12 students, traveling between up to 13 schools (about 2–3 per day) with a homebase at the main district office. You'll collaborate closely with a supportive account manager and enjoy the flexibility to shape your weekly schedule to fit your commuting needs. Some services are provided virtually, with periodic onsite travel for direct support.
Key Qualifications:
- Professional Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
- Must hold Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
- Previous experience in a school-based setting strongly preferred, though not required
- Background in student screening and assessments
- Comfortable traveling to various district schools and providing both in-person and consultative services
- Experience or willingness to work with K–12 students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect support to a caseload of approximately 15–20 visually impaired students
- Conduct screenings and assess eligibility for services
- Deliver tailored instruction and consultative recommendations to educators, students, and families
- Develop and manage individualized education plans in cooperation with multidisciplinary teams
- Coordinate schedules with administration to allow for an efficient commute and balanced workload
- Maintain comprehensive service documentation, progress monitoring, and timely communication
